Our Freeze-Thaw Machine complies with the ASTM
C666 specification, Procedures A and B, which tests
for resistance of concrete to rapid freezing and
thawing. Our standard model holds up to eighty (80)
3” x 4” x 16” concrete test beams. However, internal
specimen racks can be custom made to accommodate
special specimen sizes.
The internal chamber, lid liner and specimen racks
are constructed of 304 stainless steel. The external
cabinet is welded steel with an enamel finish. The
cabinet is insulated with 4” of urethane foam.
The refrigeration system utilizes an air-cooled or
water-cooled condensing unit as specified by the
customer. The evaporator tubes are high quality,
brazen-finned tubing. Four air circulating fans in
the lid provide uniform air temperature in the
freeze-thaw chamber.

The Scientemp Freeze-Thaw machine can be operated in
manual mode or automatic mode and has a programmable
time and temperature profile that has capabilities
to meet many various needs of the user. It is ideal
for large-scale quality testing of concrete
aggregates as well as research and development
programs for various concrete additives.
Larger capacity models feature forklift channels for
easy installation. The temperature controlled
thaw-water tank and circulating pumps are also skid
mounted. The freeze-thaw machine is tested at the
factory in the exact arrangement that the customer
chooses, so the interconnections are prefabricated.
Power wiring and interconnections are required to
make the machine functional.

This high quality machine features: 304 stainless
steel work surfaces, internal chamber, lid liner,
and specimen racks. The external cabinet is
constructed of welded steel with a durable
powder-coated finish. The cabinet chamber is
insulated with 4” of urethane foam. The evaporator
tubes are high quality, brazen-finned tubing. The
refrigeration system utilizes an air-cooled or
water-cooled condensing unit as specified by the
customer. Circulating fans in the lid provide
uniform air temperature throughout the chamber. The
lid operates with an electric linear actuator for
safe and easy operation.

This high quality concrete test machine has an attractive
instrument panel which features:

● Cycle Counter

● Thaw-Water Temperature Control
● Overall Cycle Control
The operator interface control provides easy input
of the cycle time and temperature. A programmable
three-channel, 10” diameter circular chart recorder
is provided to monitor air temperature and two test
specimens. The machine’s minimum cycle time is
approximately two hours, while the maximum cycle
time is user defined.
Scientemp also offers two upgrade options that offer
improved touch-screen user interface, network
connectivity for digital logging of data, or an
independent personal computer which provides the
user interface for control with a much larger
display and independent data logging.
The advanced option models are controlled with an
emergency stop button and a touch screen panel. The
touch screen has several displays that allow the
user to program time and temperature profiles,
select operating modes, view status of equipment and
logic functions, operate the equipment, view the
status of alarms and alarm history, and navigate
through the displays. The advanced models also offer
factory connectivity through a Virtual Private
Network for factory based technical support, system
monitoring, troubleshooting, and program downloading
of applications. (Service contract required for
factory technical support after warranty period).

Advanced 20 Block Freeze with Touch Screen Control
and Data Logging to Server
The professional option models are controlled with
an emergency stop button, a local lid switch, and
dedicated computer which provides a much larger user
interface. The dedicated computer can be installed
locally or in a remote location, such as an office
or alternate lab location. The dedicated computer
has several displays that allow the user to program
time and temperature profiles, select operating
modes, view status of equipment and logic functions,
operate the equipment, view the status of alarms and
network connectivity and data logging to the
dedicated computer that is independent from your
server-insuring continuous data collection through
network failures and upgrades.
The professional models also offer factory
connectivity for Virtual Private Network for factory
based technical support, system monitoring,
troubleshooting and program downloading of
applications. (Service contract required for factory
technical support after warranty period).
